Our contest was run over three stages. First entrants had to participate in The Sims 3 discussions on our forums in order to raise enough virtual points to get an entry ticket, priced at 500 points in our forums virtual store.

Once they had their entry ticket access was granted to a private contest forum, in which they found further instructions on what to do next. They were challenged to submit a ‘Simmer Statement’ informing our panel of six judges about their history, experiences and their plans for the future with The Sims game series, and also had to complete a 15-question quiz which tested their knowledge of some The Sims, The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 facts.

With their Simmer Statement ratings and Quiz results combined, the scores were in and the winner was decided – and it gives us great pleasure to reveal the winner to you now!

Congratulations Eclipsed!

Eclipsed is an active member of our forums, she is 23 and hails from Sweden! She is an animal lover and is currently expecting her first child. Eclipsed scored a total of 19 points from the statement and quiz stage of our contest and will now receive the prize of The Sims 3 Collectors Edition.

Right here at Sims 3 Website we are giving you the chance to win a copy of The Sims 3 Collectors Edition, regardless of where you live. There will only be one winner, but that winner could be you. Stage One : Grab an entry ticket!

There are 50 entry tickets available, priced at 500 points, but these points are virtual. You earn points by participating in our The Sims 3 forums! 10 points for a new thread, 5 for a post and so on and when you have accumulated enough points you must head to the virtual shop on the forums to grab your ticket.

This ticket will grant you access to a private contest forum which you will need to help you complete the second stage of the contest.

Stage Two : Prove Your Sims Love

Stage two of the contest requires you to complete two simple tasks.

• Publish a Simmer Statement
• Complete a Simmer Quiz

Simmer Statement
After stage one you will gain access to the private contest forum. This is where you must create your Simmer Statement. What is it exactly? That is largely upto you. We want to know about your experiences of The Sims from the very beginning until now, tell us what you love, what you hate and everything in between about The Sims series as a whole.

The Simmer Statements will be read, commented on and rated by our panel of judges who are all well respected members of The Sims Fansites community, most of which running established websites and forums – such as Weby from The Sims Slovenija, Kira from Snooty Sims, DJBoddington of Sims Galore and Connor Jack of Sim Operations amongst others.

Simmer Quiz
The Simmer Quiz, which you also gain access to from the private contest forum, consists of 15 questions. There are 5 questions about each of The Sims, The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.

Deciding The Winner

The overall ratings of all Simmer Statements will be combined with each entrants Simmer Quiz results, with the highest total deciding the winner of The Sims 3 Collectors Edition contest!

The Small Print

Stage two entries must be submitted by 9PM GMT on May 24th. The winner will be announced on Sunday 31st May 2009, and the winners postal address will be requested immediately. Once received, an order for The Sims 3 Collectors Edition will be placed at a suitable online retailer in your country. If you believe the game is not available where you live, please do not enter this contest to avoid disappointment. Players must be at least 13 years old to be eligible to receive the prize. Sims 3 Website team members cannot enter this contest.

No More Double Account

Until now you could create one members account to post comments on our articles, and you could also create a seporate members account to join in the fun over at our The Sims 3 forums.

This setup has now been taken away, as many visitors were registering on the website for the ability to comment on our The Sims 3 news, screenshots etc, but were a little confused when they found they could still not post on the forums despite having registered on our website.

Open Comments System

To take away the confusion we have removed the need to become a member to comment on articles on our main website. This also encourages further interaction between you guys and our website, and interaction is what The Sims 3 is all about!

Account Registration Changes

The ‘Register’ link that you see in our sidebar used to create an account for you so you could comment on articles. As you no longer need to join for that, the link now takes you to our forums registration process so you can discuss everything The Sims 3 (and anything else if you wish) on our message boards with like-minded The Sims 3 fanatics!

So to sum up the changes there is no longer any confusion between two accounts for commenting, and posting at the forums. Simply create an account at the forums and you are a part of the Sims 3 Website community.

As this is our first competition we have decided to base the winner on the level of interaction with Sims 3 Website.com, and in particular our dedicated The Sims 3 forums. At the end of June an open-poll will be created on our forums showing a list of nominated members who have been deemed the most active, helpful and respectful in our community by our team of forum staff.

All active users of our forums can then cast their votes on who they feel deserve to win. Votes will be taken for a 1-week period, with the winner will be declared on July 7th 2009.

The new open world environment! It was always a little frustrating in The Sims 2 playing in one lot and seeing all those others around you, without being able to simply stroll across the street into them – the loading screens were too offputting. The Sims 3 spells the end for all that, can’t wait!

Yet to make our forums enjoyable and user friendly for everyone, we need a fun and friendly bunch of moderators to keep things on the forums running smoothly, which is where you could come in as we are seeking a maximum of 3 moderators.

Anyone appointed a moderator will take the role voluntarily, as we are after all just a fan site. The moderators will be given various responsibilities on the Sims 3 Website.com message boards which will include supervising new threads and replies to make sure they do not break any forum rules, and to generally keep things clean and friendly for Sims fans of all ages.

Other responsibilities include reporting breach of rules, be it members causing friction via the messages they post or a nasty spam-bot breaking our filters and posting random unsuitable messages and links.

If you have a true love for The Sims 3 and a generally friendly and highly tolerant manner then you could be the person we are looking for! Experience of moderating a VBulletin powered forum in the past will be an added bonus. If you have not moderated a forum before it will not necessarily prevent us from appointing you as a moderator so do not let that put you off showing your interest.
